Pricilla + José Vow renewal at The Pillar and Post

Pricilla and José eloped over 20 years ago. They didn't have the big fairytale wedding...until, last summer when they did. These two lovebirds had the most beautiful vow renewal ceremony in the gardens at the Pillar and Post in Niagara on the lake,  surrounded by their 3 children and close family. And you can see by these images, the way they look at each other, they're still totally head over heels in love with each other. It was the sweetest thing to watch and document.

Another sweet little aspect of their special day was their adorable little toddler. 100% pure sweetheart....just not, like, totally into vow renewal ceremonies. And can we blame him? No. He's a toddler, he's got other big stuff to do. It's still super important that he was there though. The same is true for anyone with kids, of course they should be at your wedding, vow renewal or anything else important. These are family celebrations that everyone should be a part of. It just a great idea to be prepared with a back up person to care for them just in case a little human isn't really into what's happening. That's exactly what this family did. Grandma was right there and up for the task of occupying this little man while mom and dad were able to be fully present in their special moment. Along with the help of an amazing team member from the Pillar and Post who was right there to help with a little refreshment for the little guy. And they weren't far so Grandma was able to still be present for everything as well.

After their ceremony, a certain little someone still wasn't quite ready for photos. Again, no problem. Off he went with his big siblings and extended family for a little downtime while mom and dad enjoyed the pillar and post gardens for their wedding portraits that they waited 20 years for. Once we were done that, little man was good to go. It all about patience, listening to the child's needs, being prepared with helpers and understanding that toddlers are toddlers.

And, as so many parents of toddlers and babies have heard me say in the past...I always win in the end.

Not all heroes wear capes!
